OUR GUIDE: BLACK ZIRCONIUM RINGS

WHY BLACK ZIRCONIUM?

Apart from the fact that it sounds cool?! Zirconium in its natural form is a lustrous, grey-white metal not dissimilar to titanium. It is highly resistant to chemicals and can withstand extremely high temperatures. This makes it perfect for use in cladding on nuclear reactors, submarines, space vehicles and jet engines! I know, right. It also makes zirconium very hypoallergenic, which is great for anyone with extremely sensitive metal allergies, such as nickel.

The black finish on our rings is achieved through a heating process over several hours, where a thin layer of black oxide forms on the metal. This is extremely durable and will not rub off over time unlike some other techniques.

EASE OF WEAR AND CARE

The layer of black oxide on our zirconium rings is tough but not scratch-proof! As with all our rings, care should be taken in extreme environments and during manual work. To clean, we would recommend simple soap and warm water with a soft cloth.

OUR DESIGNS

We currently have the black zirconium ring available in our bevelled edge Crookes Valley design. As this is a new metal for us, we have chosen one of our most popular designs to launch with. It is extremely lightweight and has a comfort fit court profile on the inside.
